Environment

Anne Main MP: "The Green Belt provides a vital buffer zone and stops us being joined up with other communities - importantly it also encourages re-development on Brownfield sites, and encourages us to use our land wisely.

The Green belt is complemented by our incidental green spaces, our parks, playing fields and green field areas, all of which must be treasured for the precious resource they are. These “green” assets are the lungs of our community.

Water is in scant supply in our area cannot be taken for granted. We need to be vigilant to ensure are local rivers and water sources are well managed, not exploited or polluted.

What makes St Albans such an attractive place to live in can so easily be lost through, ugly inappropriate development, choking pollution, and loss of quality of life.

I believe all residents are entitled to a decent quality of life, without being mired in congestion, pollution, excessive noise and without access to green spaces. Space, air quality and tranquillity are all threatened by the relentless drive to build by this Government and I will continue to fight on your behalf."
